Today we are going to talk about TRUST.
You trust me, that’s why you’re reading this newsletter.
You trust me, that’s why you are on this newsletter.
But that trust wasn’t built overnight.
And yet, I see most people go wrong with cold emailing.
You see, cold emailing is just another way to market and sell your product/service.
Don’t take it as a magic tool.
It’s way harder to build trust with someone who doesn’t know you.
Or has never heard about you.
It’s just like you're walking on the street, and someone comes up to you and says:
“Hey, we provide this service, would you like to have a meeting with us?”
What would be your reaction?
Well, you might not be interested, say “No thanks,” and move on.
And that’s what happens with cold emailing.
It’s because they don’t know you, and more importantly, they don’t trust you.
Now, let’s switch to another scenario...
A business event.
Where people come to your booth willingly, even if they don’t know or trust you.
Why?
Because they want to learn about new things that could:
Save them time.
Make them more money.
Help them become more efficient or productive.
Plus, they registered for the event by themselves.
So, they’ll come to you if your booth is interesting enough.
Now, why did I give you the business event example?
Well, it’s because you were in a place where your ideal customers hang out.
And if you want to replicate this online and go beyond cold emailing so that you can add even more meetings to your calendar...
Then you need to go where your audience is.
And online, that place is newsletters.
Most newsletters do paid promotions.
You just need to find out where your audience hangs out and then reach out to those newsletters and ask for their price.
They will charge $500–$1000 for one post, sometimes more, depending on their audience size and engagement rate.
And when you sponsor these newsletters, make sure that your copy (ad messaging) is really good.
Or it won’t convert anyone.
On top of that, you need to decide on two things:
Do you want to use a lead magnet to attract as many people as possible who are interested in learning more about your business?
Or do you want to pitch your product/service directly with a great offer?
If you ask me, I would suggest creating a really good lead magnet first and collecting people’s info like names, emails, phone numbers, etc.
After that, on the thank you page, you can add a “Book a Call” CTA.
This way, you’ll attract more and more people and still nurture those who didn’t book a call with you.
The direct pitch approach will attract fewer people, but the leads will be more qualified.
