I have the unique advantage of having served 1000s of users and 100s of clients, so I’ve been exposed to all the reasons businesses have been failing with outbound.
For instance, I’ve never seen cold email in such shambles as it is today. The days of endless email blasts and “spray-and-pray” are almost dead.
The ESPs have caught on… and they’re winning.
For every new inbox, they’ve got a new filter.
For every loophole, they’ve got a new rule.
But here’s the thing: change is coming.
Only those who adapt will survive.
Big Pharma Would Be Proud of the Cold Email Industry
The only “innovation” we’re seeing in cold email?
Symptom management. But here’s why that’s a fatal mistake:
Don’t get me wrong, today’s deliverability tools are impressive. They do their job well.
But they also highlight a deeper problem.
The problem?
Email service providers don’t like our strategies. They weren’t built to support the typical cold email tactics we’re using.
So we’re left with a choice:
👉 We can keep playing defense, patching up the wounds every time an ESP changes the rules.
Taking quick-fix "magic pills" to stay in the inbox.
OR
👉 We can take control by changing our strategy, not just our tools. Think beyond deliverability hacks and focus on long-term relationship-building tactics that ESPs won’t penalize.
Healthy strategies lead to sustainable results.
