#17 The Mistake of a Lifetime

If you aim small, you'll miss big. Do this instead...

“There’s nothing more sales can’t cure”

Today marked a historic day for us at Uptics.

But before I share the news I want to talk to you about the risks of thinking small.

As it relates to sales, business, and growth.

There's a saying that goes...

"Aim small, miss small"

This saying is a perfect analogy for growth.

Anti-growth, more like.

If you aim small, it's a safe bet and surely you're less likely to fail.

But aiming small will put you into a category with the other 99% who feast at the bottom.

To explain it simply, there's a lot of competition for small thinking.

Because it's easy and the masses cling onto small thinking, because it's "easier".

But there's massive repercussions for that isn't there?

Just think...

How many deals have you lost to a competitor?

How many revenue goals have you missed?

How many tax years has your income missed what you truly want?

Have you reached the vision you've always thought you were capable of achieving?

Have you purchased that car you've always wanted?

Do you have the dream home you've always wanted?

How many vacations have you put off?

How many times have you ignored opening your bank about because you're ashamed of where it's at now because you know it's not where you want it to be?

How many times have you ignored thinking about this because it's easier to ignore it?

All of this is a symptom of small thinking.

Now, I'm not saying all of this to tell you I'm better than you.

In fact, these are all questions and thoughts that I myself have struggled with.

I'm nowhere I want to be in life yet.

But I'm well on my way.

And it's because I refuse to think 'small'.

Because I want to build something that leaves a lasting impression on the world.

And on my family.

Something that I can look back at on my death bed and say:

"I'm truly proud of what I accomplished with my time on this earth"

I honestly believe that thinking small would be the biggest single mistake of my life.

So...how can you start to think bigger?

Every guru on the planet would tell you to 10x what you're doing now.

I think that's too hard to fathom for most people.

Start at 2x.

If you're at $25,000, get to $50k.

If you're at $1m, get to $2m.

Then work the numbers backward.

How many customers does that mean I need?

How many sales meetings do I need to get that many customers?

How many leads do I need to get those meetings?

How many emails, cold calls, DMs, do I need?

How much in paid advertising do I need to get those leads?

Then break your goals into Quarterly targets.

You can write this in a simple spreadsheet or on a napkin.

From there the only thing stopping you is this:

Commitment!

If you commit, you can do it.

And I know you can do that.
